DAVAO CITY – Partylist lawmaker Neri Colmenares of Bayan Muna urged House leadership to immediately approve the bill that would provide for higher pension of the Social Security System (SSS).
Colmenares said his authored legislation House Bill 175 already passed the committee level and would mandate a P2,000 pension increase across the board.
Colmenares said those receiving the basic P1,200 pension per month would now receive P3,200 if his version of the bill is finally enacted.
“All the succeeding pension brackets would also have a P2,000 increase. This is indeed a positive development but we will still push for more increases for SSS pensioners,” said Colmenares.
“We thank House Committee on Government Enterprises and Privatization Rep. Jesus Sacdalan for facilitating the passage of the bill in his committee and I hope that we can jointly push for the speedy approval of HB 175 before the June 11 break,” said Colmenares.
