DAVAO CITY — The Council of Welfare for Children will hold a three-day citywide Children’s Congress here in a bid to identify and address the concerns and issues of children.

With the theme, “Kalidad: Edukasyon para sa lahat ng bata”, the congress will take place on Nov. 21-23 at the Grand Menseng Hotel.

Gina Molon, children and youth focal person of the City Social Services and Development Office (CSSDO), said “the forum will serve as an avenue for children to be heard as they are expected to articulate their thoughts and feelings about the things that are happening around them.”

Molon said the children’s statements would be the basis for appropriate interventions of the city officials.

The forum, she added, will also serve as an opportunity to assess the programs and services for children in 2015.

Davao City was recently awarded the 2015 Most Child-Friendly City under the highly-urbanized category.

Molon said they expect between 300 to 400 children to attend the congress with participants coming from other areas in Mindanao. All barangays in Davao are already conducting local congresses in preparation for the citywide event. (davaotoday.com)
