DAVAO CITY, Philippines — Another fire hit the City, Thursday, marking the 24th fire here for the month of August based on the reports of the Central Fire Station-Davao Region.
The said fire razed 132 houses mostly made of light materials with one house partially damaged at Purok 2, Punta Dumalag, Brgy. Matina Aplaya affecting about 159 families.
Based on the report, the fire broke out from the house of Maricel Barcenas at 8:26 A.M.
It reached the third alarm, with no casualties, but a certain Junrey Lape, 30 years old, suffered a laceration on his left leg.
According to Senior Fire Officer 3 Ramil Gillado, Chief of the Investigation and Intelligence Section of the Davao City Fire District, the damage is estimated to reach P1.3 million.
Gillado added that the probable cause of fire is electrical arcing.
The said area is within a coastal community. Just last week, 150 houses were also razed by fire in Barangay Isla Verde, also a coastal community. (davaotoday.com)
