DAVAO CITY, Philippines – The Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) in this region announced on Monday, October 16, that it is opening the landslide-affected section of the Carlos P. Garcia Highway for vehicular traffic.
Beginning Monday, the road “shall be opened to vehicular traffic on a 24/7 basis,” said Dean Ortiz, spokesperson of DPWH Region 11.
However, the agency said the said road could still face closures due to fickle weather conditions.
“Motorists are encouraged to exercise caution,” he said.
The Maa-Carlos P. Garcia Highway was previously closed due to road clearing operations after a landslide incident on October 5.
The closer led to a heavy traffic the day after, which lasted for days as buses and trucks were forced to ply on Mac Arthur Highway. (davaotoday.com)
