City to implement 11-M traffic lights upgrade

Jun. 06, 2018

DAVAO CITY, Philippines — The Davao City Transportation and Traffic Management Office has conducted the bidding of projects worth P11 Million for the repair and upgrading of defective traffic lights in the city.

CTTMO chair Dionisio Abude said based on their inventory, 23 intersections have defective traffic lights, 11 of these have flashing problems while others have wiring problems.

There are also controller boxes needing replacement for the controlling fans.

He added the rewiring of the traffic lights can be done while still waiting for the arrival of the replacement of 12-year-old lights.

Abude assured the public that 180 out of 250 newly-hired CTTMO traffic enforcers had been deployed to man the streets in two shifts to address traffic flow in the city.

“We have enough personnel to augment the traffic problem in the city. This is all we can do while we are waiting for the repair of our traffic lights,” said Abude.

Meanwhile, Abude also announced to the city council that the National Road Board has allocated P531 Million to upgrade CTTMO.

He said they will be buying body cameras for enforcers and upgrading CCTV cameras. (davaotoday.com)
