‘Foul Means’
The military, according to Sanchez, has utilized all possible foul means in its intelligence operations against the revolutionary forces. One such dirty tactic is directed against family members and close relatives of revolutionaries who are targeted by the AFP, Sanchez said.
“Under pain of sustained harassment and increasing threats as well as of arbitrary arrests, forcible abductions, involuntary disappearances and killings, family members and close relatives of revolutionaries are being pressured to work as intelligence assets and agents of the AFP. Many have fallen victims. Out of the few who succumbed, some performed intelligence duties with the enemy. Evelyn Pitao was such a case,” the NPA statement said.
The military was blamed for the death of Parago’s daughter Rebelyn in March this year. The growing protests over her death prompted the provincial government in Davao del Norte to look into the killing of Danilo Pitao.
But the Task Forces organized to investigate the cases, composed mostly of members of the Philippine National Police, have yet to come up with their findings.
The PNP’s Task Force Rebelyn drew flak from human rights groups when it absolved the 10th ID-AFP agents and assets implicated in Rebelyn Pitao’s abduction, torture, rape and murder.
But the police was quick to file charges against individuals in Sto. Tomas in Davao del Norte allegedly involved in Evelyns death.
As a reaction to Paragos radio interview, Bombo received a text message, saying, after Danilo, Rebelyn and Evelyn, the CPP will kill Parago. He will be sacrificed as a martyr. He is a burden to the CPP.”
But Parago just laughed it off, saying that it was the handiwork of the 10th ID-AFP.
Thats how desperate they are to find ways to scare me off. I suggest they make their accusations a bit believable. They are ridiculous, Parago said. (davaotoday.com)
