DAVAO CITY, Philippines – Mayor Sara Duterte-Carpio warned the public of a scam involving her name that collects funds for her bid in the 2022 national elections.
The City Information Office released a video presser on Thursday that Sara has been receiving reports about a scam using her name soliciting money to fund her presidential bid. Mayor Sara told the public that she did not authorize anyone to use her name to promote the interests of these people.
“It has come to me that there are individuals who are asking money from other people and organizations, including businessmen, to use it as a campaign fund for my presidential bid,” she said.
Should this scam continue to circulate, she has urged the public to decline giving money and report it immediately to the authorities.
Earlier Duterte-Carpio topped the Pulse Asia survey of the preferred bets for the 2022 Presidential Election amid her repeated denial on succeeding her father, President Rodrigo Duterte, or seek any posts to higher office.
In her previous statement, the presidential daughter shrugged the high ratings off she got in a potential presidential bet survey and even asked poll organizations to remove her name from the list of possible candidates come the 2022 national elections.
Sara dismissive of the 2022 elections said, “it is far from the minds of the Filipino since everyone is still focused on surviving the economic and humanitarian toll of the COVID-19 pandemic.” (davaotoday.com)
