City employees to receive performance bonuses

DAVAO CITY, Philippine – Local government employees here will soon be receiving their performance bonus as the Department of Interior and Local Government (DILG) and Department of Budget and Management (DBM) have given their go signal.

In a letter from DILG Secretary Eduardo M. Año to Mayor City Sara Duterte-Carpio dated May 24, 2019, the Office of the City Mayor was informed that the Davao City local government “is eligible to grant the Fiscal Year 2017 performance-based bonus for its qualified officials and personnel” proving that the City complied with all the conditions prescribed by the stated by the Joint Memorandum Circular.

“The City Government of Davao was found to have complied with all the conditions and criteria for the grant of the FY 2017 Performance-Based Bonus for Local Government Officials and Employees pursuant to Section 3.0 of DILG-DBM Joint Memorandum Circular No. 2017-4 dated June 7, 2017, as validated by the Civil Service Commission, Commission on Audit and Department of Interior and Local Government.”

On Monday, Councilor Danilo Dayanghirang, Chair of the Committee on Finance, Ways and Means and Appropriations, said during in a press conference that the City Government has Supplemental Budget No.1 amounting to Php 1.474 billion from the balances of last year and the budget from the savings of projects that were not implemented last year.

Dayanghirang added that the Supplemental Budget No.1 will be the source of the budget for the 2,455 regular employees and 130 local government officials “vis-a-vis with its own performance-based assessment”. Employees who will pass the performance-based assessment will receive an amount of 50 percent of their salary as FY 2017 PBB.

“So, if you are receiving 20 thousand a month salary, you will receive an additional 50 percent performance bonus of 10 thousand pesos” he said.

The City government is expected to release the FY 2017 PBB of Php33 Million after 2 weeks as it is still in the 2nd reading in the City Council. (davaotoday.com)
